Meet Dr. Emma
Hi! I’m Dr Emma Williams, Clinical Psychologist and Director of EmPsych Ltd. I am a registered member of the Health Professions Council (HCPC), EMDR Association and British Society of Clinical & Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH). I am trained in a range of psychological therapies across the lifespan and condition. I have additional experience and training in neuropsychology.
People come along to therapy with me for help to manage a range of emotional and physical difficulties. I specialise in trauma therapy, adjustment to physical health difficulties, adjustment to and rehabilitation from neurological conditions including functional neurological disorder.
Believe it or not, Psychologists are also just regular humans. I prioritise the balance between work and leisure. In my spare time I love nothing better than getting out for a walk in the hills, having a blether with friends and escaping as a family to remote beaches in our campervan.
I have worked and studied in psychology for over 20 years, completing my MA Degree in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh in 2004, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh in 2013 and a PgDip in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Glasgow in 2023.
I have gained a wide range of experiences across my career which include working within NHS Mental Health and Neuropsychology services, the private sector and medical legal settings.
I am trained and a variety of psychological therapies including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness and Medical Hypnosis. I enjoy blending these different approaches for clients to provide a tailored therapy that fits for them.
